The U.S cattle supply is at its lowest point in 64 years. According to USDA’s annual cattle inventory report, the total number of cattle and calves is 86.7 million head. That’s down zero-point-six percent from a year ago. Beef cow numbers are down a half-percentage point from the same time in 2024. Beef heifer replacements declined one percent. The dairy cow inventory is nearly unchanged from a year ago, while the number of dairy replacements dropped nearly one percent.
