The USDA reported a strong week for U.S. export sales during the week ending January 16th. China led purchases of beef and soybeans, while South Korea topped the list for corn, and Japan and Mexico accounted for about half of the week’s pork sales. Physical shipments of corn and soybeans exceeded projections for the current marketing year. Corn sales surged to 1.661 million tons, a 62% increase from the previous week, while soybean sales hit 1.491 million tons, led by purchases from China and Japan. The USDA’s next supply and demand report is set for release on February 11th.
