The Minnesota legislative session hasn’t started, but the chaos has already begun. After the November elections, there was a 67-67 tie with equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans. The Republicans gained a temporary one-seat majority when the courts determined a DFL lawmaker did not live in his district and could not serve. That seat will remain open until after a special election on January 28. There’s also a situation in the Shakopee area where the DFL candidate won by 14 votes, but 20 ballots are missing, and that individual may not be seated.
