Farm groups have stepped up. Farm Bureau and Farmers Union have issued a legislative alert to their members. These farm groups say any supplemental spending bill must include financial assistance for agriculture. From rice to beans, commodity groups have also spoken out about the need for meaningful assistance. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture and the Farm Credit Council have also joined the choir, saying a one-year farm bill extension without additional assistance is unacceptable.
