The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed listing the monarch butterfly as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Public comments will be accepted until March 12. In a statement, the National Corn Growers Association said the threatened species designation should protect monarch butterflies without disrupting critical farming activities. The American Soybean Association said the listing was expected, but called for a transparent, science-based process.
