The canola market has been depressed, hurt by policy and politics. “We’re waiting on biofuels policy for 2025,” said CHS Commercial Manager Andy Smith. “I think we’re really looking for clarity in that direction as well as clarity from the incoming administration and their trade policy.” Speaking at the Canola Symposium in Roseau, Smith said canola acreage is rising in Minnesota while traditional canola production areas in North Dakota have seen a downturn due to crop rotations.
