Canadian farmers harvested a bigger wheat and soybean crop while canola production declined from a year ago. According to StatsCan, wheat production totaled 34.9 million tons. That’s up more than six percent from a year ago. Wheat acreage was down, but yields were up. Soybean output rose 8.4 percent to 7.5 million tons. The heatwave this summer cut into Canada’s canola crop. StatsCan forecast canola production at 17.8 million tons, down seven percent from last year.
