The South Dakota Farmers Union is hosting its annual convention December 11-12. President Doug Sombke expects animal agriculture to be heavily discussed at his year’s meeting. “We’ll have open remarks by Dr. Beth Thompson, the state veterinarian, mostly about the bird flu and how it’s affecting livestock in the state,” said Sombke. “Then also animal ID. Eminent domain and the pipeline are also expected to be debated ahead of the state legislative session.
