A farm bill extension seems more likely than the passage of new legislation. “It would have been nice if (Senate Agriculture Committee) Chair (Debbie) Stabenow would have brought the farm bill language up earlier than she did because timing is precious,” said Dan Glessing, president, Minnesota Farm Bureau. “We’re still advocating to get a good farm bill, whether that’s here in lame duck or not.” The Senate is expected to consider a farm financial assistance package. A similar plan has not been offered in the House, but the Minnesota members of the agriculture committee have signed off on a letter supporting this relief.
