At the COP29 Food, Ag and Water Day, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack explained how climate-smart practices can help small farms. “Now instead of one source of income, that tiny amount from each commodity item, you have an environmental payment. You may have a utilization of farm waste into something more valuable.” Vilsack offered up a variety of programs that the USDA has created to incentivize such practices.
