Former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin is President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. “We know that the EPA head is the most important roles when it comes to the RFS and small refinery waivers,” said Jacqui Fatka, who is CoBank’s lead economist for farm supplies and biofuels. “As we look at the track record of former Representative Zeldin when was in Congress, he was one of the lead sponsors of a bill to repeal the RFS.” Fatka says this may be an opportunity for education about the importance of biofuels. On another topic, agriculture and the sustainable aviation industry are waiting for guidance on the 45Z Clean Fuel Production tax credit from the Biden administration. Fatka is not optimistic about that happening before the end of Biden’s term. Listen online for the full interview.
