StoneX fertilizer market analyst Josh Linville is concerned what additional fertilizer tariffs would mean for U.S. exports. It’s a slippery slope that Linville worries could lead to a trade war with Russia. “If the Trump administration gets into a little tit-for-tat type thing with Russia and we start to see not only phosphate that’s cut off from coming here, but they’ll probably start doing the same thing with potash and nitrogen.” Tariffs aside, there is legitimate concern over a tight supply situation and how it could drive nitrogen fertilizer prices higher and higher.
