The sugarbeet harvest officially ended for American Crystal Sugar Company on October 26. It was a record crop. “It’s about 13.2 million tons or just a tad over that and it looks like we’re going to end up around 32.4 for tons per acre so that will be a record as well,” said Joe Hastings, general agronomist. “For recoverable sugar per acre, I’m thinking we’re going to be second compared to last year but still very good. It was a great year for that too with sugar at about 18.5 (percent).”
