For GK Technologies, harvest season is the time of year to create zoning for variable rate technologies. “We do that from various data sources and we put those data sources together to help us understand where the field might act similarly or differently from a productivity standpoint,” says Sarah Hall-Lovas, agronomist, GK Technologies. Making reasonable yield goals for specific zones in fields can help farmers be more efficient. “Based on that, we can reduce that overall input cost and apply inputs to a level that makes sense.”
