The North Dakota Livestock Alliance facilitated the formation of the North Dakota Dairy Working Group due to milk processing plant closures. The biggest problem for dairy producers is where to take their milk. “We run into the issue of having too many cows and not enough cows at the same time,” said Amber Wood, executive director, North Dakota Livestock Alliance. Wood said the dairy farmers in western North Dakota are forced to haul their milk to Fargo or Perham, Minnesota. “We’ve been looking at multiple different avenues for milk processing out in the Bismarck-Mandan area. Hopefully, we can find some sort of solution.”
