The Federal Reserve Board is expected to cut interest rates at its September meeting. “The time has come for policy to adjust,” said Fed Chair Jerome Powell during the annual Jackson Hole Economic Conference. “The direction is clear and the timing and pace of rate cuts will depend on incoming data, the evolving outlook and the balance of risks.” Powell said he is confident inflation is returning to two percent.
