House Speaker Mike Johnson is reportedly considering a continuing resolution that would push back the fiscal 2025 appropriations process into March. The current fiscal year ends September 30th and passage is unlikely before that. A six-month stopgap spending bill would likely push other issues, like the farm bill, into 2025. Senate leadership favors action on the spending bills during the lame-duck session rather than pushing these issues to the next Congress.
