The Minnesota Department of Agriculture received $3 million from the Clean Water Fund in 2023 to expand the weather station network statewide. Through a partnership with the North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network, the MDA weather stations are integrated into the NDAWN system. “We hope to have a station approximately every 20 miles in the agriculture-growing areas,” said John Swanson, a member of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association board. The Minnesota Ag Weather Network expansion is designed to bring reliable real-time local weather data and tools to farmers and the public.
