The new Ag Expo Center had its debut at the Brown County Fair in Aberdeen. South Dakota Farmer’s Union believes this facility has helped educate the general public about farming. “It used to be that everybody had at least a grandpa or an uncle or a cousin that was a farmer or rancher and that’s not necessarily the case anymore. Since the 1970s, we’ve lost a lot of farmers and the retention of young people coming back to the farm has gotten even less” SDFU Education Specialist Samantha Bowman said the hands-on learning provided at the Ag Expo Center is a great way for children to learn about agriculture.
