The Northern Potato Growers Association’s new executive director is settling into his new role. Having been in the industry for over 30 years, Gary Shields is not new to the business, having served as president of the Potato Associates for the last six years. “The industry in general is very strong. There’s a lot of exciting things going on and there’s no shortage of continued growth in the industry.” Shields said it is a good year for potatoes with the cooler weather earlier in the season and the forecast.
