House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson is upset with the CBO budget score, saying it failed to recognize the bill’s approach to Commodity Credit Corporation spending. The bill suspends the Agriculture Secretary’s authority to use CCC funds for issues like the Market Facilitation Program and Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. In a statement, Thompson said the farm bill is a lengthy process, and he will continue his work to bring the legislation to the finish line. Ranking Member David Scott praised the CBO’s budget analysis, saying it is evident the Republican farm bill has problems.
