The risk of Fusarium head blight is high this year. “It’s been a number of years since we’ve really had an outbreak,” said Jochum Wiersma, small grains specialist, University of Minnesota Extension. “This year we are going to find out if the combination of genetics and fungicides is good enough to market the grain.” Stripe rust and bacterial leaf streak are also important disease threats this year.
