In northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, crops are just 150-200 GDUs behind the five-year average, but only 50-100 GDUs behind normal. In the latest Pioneer Agronomy Update, Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen says Rapid Growth Syndrome has been seen in corn this season. “Rapid Growth Syndrome occurs when the leaves fail to unfurl properly and the whorl becomes tightly wrapped or twisted.” These leaves typically unfurl after a few days of new growth and no yield impact is anticipated. More details about Rapid Growth Syndrome is available online. Listen to the update.
