Reaction Seen After High Court Ruling

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall applauds the Supreme Court decision, saying the Chevron deference damaged the federal government’s balance of power. National Cattlemen’s Association President Mark Eisele said the cattle industry has dealt with numerous situations where federal agencies enacted regulations that overreached the authority granted by Congress. Jennifer Jones, who is a director with the Union of Concerned Scientists, said the Chevron principle has guided policies dealing with consumer rights, public health and the environment. Jones said Friday’s High Court ruling has broken that precedent.
