Moore cites the use of a nitrogen stabilizer in the pit to create a consistent liquid nutrient and reduce odor. The nitrogen values in the manure increased, providing another revenue stream for farmers who can sell higher quality manure to local farmers. “When I was with New Fashion Pork, we sold a large volume of manure to our neighbors, especially in the last couple of years when (crop) input costs were so high and due to how we manage and treat the manure,” said Moore. “It’s definitely value-added, a home run for the Midwest.” Listen to the full interview.
