The farm bill dominated discussions at this year’s World Association of Beet and Cane Growers annual conference. According to American Sugarbeet Growers Association Executive Vice President Luther Markwart, there’s still a lot of moving parts with this legislation. “It’s difficult because of where they’re moving money in and around the bill,” said Markwart. “At the end of the day, both parties and both bodies probably won’t be happy with the end decisions, but they’re going to have to do that in order to get a bill done.”
