FAPRI at the University of Missouri and the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M are seen as the leading sources of nonpartisan farm policy research. Former House Agriculture Committee Chair Collin Peterson has been the driving force behind the creation of a similar ag policy research center at NDSU. “We’re going to enhance what they’re doing, not compete with it,” said Peterson. “There’s some good databases out there that have been built. We can build on that and we can go into the other areas where you don’t have the information, like dairy.” The new policy center is based at NDSU, but represents agriculture throughout the Midwest.
