According to the NDSU Crop and Pest Report, grasshopper nymphs have started to emerge in ditches. The recent cool temperatures and rain delayed the hatch, potentially extending the season for hoppers into mid-July. Fields should be scouted each week. Broadleaf crops, like sugarbeets, sunflowers, canola, dry beans and soybeans, are more susceptible to than small grains.
