Transportation challenges continue in agriculture. Agricultural Retailers Association President and CEO Daren Coppock says labor is the choking point. “There just aren’t enough people out there willing and qualified to do the kind of work that needs to be done,” said Coppock. “Part of it will be finding folks that maybe aren’t traditional ag people and get them interested in moving to the country and doing these kinds of jobs.” Automation of the process at the farm and warehouse level would also be part of the solution. Coppock admitted political attempts to ease some of the workforce issues have not seen much success. The interview with Coppock can be found online.
