Winter wheat is starting to head in some areas, while parts of the country are beginning to see some impact from drought. “It could be very early progress on getting winter wheat out of the ground which would allow plenty of time for putting in another crop after this as many of them would want to do,” said Dennis Todey, director, Midwest Climate Hub. “In the northern areas, there’s still not much in the way of winter wheat heading. Overall, the conditions are pretty good.”
