Minnesota Senate Ag Committee Chair Aric Putnam is seeing concern from farmers about soil quality and water quality across the state. “That’s the whole state, not just the Karst region,” said Putnam. “I know we’ve been talking a lot about nitrates and drinking water in southeastern Minnesota but it’s a big concern for everyone across the state. We are taking it seriously and doing what we can to be consistent with how I do this.” Putnum believes in an incentive-based strategy. “In the Senate, we do carrots, not sticks.”
