Acreage numbers were down in the USDA Planting Intentions Report. “With the Prospective Plantings Report, the government will usually find something to surprise us and they did it again,” said Steve Wagner, director of risk management, RCM. “The tribe was looking for 91.8 million acres of corn to be planted this spring and Uncle Sam says we’re gonna plant 90.04 million. Last year, we had 253.8 million acres of total crop and this year it’s 248.9 million. Where did those acres go?”
