Soybean meal and oil supply is likely to boom with the opening of multiple crush facilities. This rise comes with the potential risk of outweighing demand and could lead to some turmoil in the markets. “Even if the markets do get more volatile and turmoil rules, stick to the basic approaches. They still work,” said University of Minnesota Grain Marketing Specialist Ed Usset. As crush capacity increases, Usset points to a need for demand to meet these rising supply numbers. “They’re big players and I think many of these plants will survive,” Usset said. “But some of these plants that are drawn up and haven’t broken ground yet, maybe they don’t happen.”
