Kluis Commodity Advisors President Al Kluis is encouraging clients to spread out their risk and be an incremental seller. “I think we’re in the process of bottoming the grain markets now, but if we get a spring-summer rally we could see very low prices again by next fall,” said Kluis. “You have to be a seasonal seller, you have to be disciplined and you have to close your eyes sometimes and just sell into the weather market rallies.” Kluis, who led a learning session at Commodity Classic, said growers are looking for an opportunity to hedge at a profit. “In election years we tend to get rallies later in the year, but now we’ve got the worst of both worlds with low futures prices and a wide basis.”
