Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley and Montana Democrat Jon Tester have sent a letter to their Senate colleagues in opposition to recent efforts to weaken the Packers and Stockyards Act in the agriculture appropriations bill. There is a policy rider in the spending bill that would prevent USDA from enforcing these rules on packers and meat processors.
