European farmers have been demonstrating for weeks, protesting costly regulations. Farmers in India are also going to the streets to demand higher commodity prices. The Indian government has offered to resume negotiations over farm policy, but that was after police used tear gas and water cannons to stop the protests in the northern state of Punjab. The largest protest had about 10,000 people and over a thousand tractors and wagons to block major roads. Farm leaders indicate one protester was killed and three were injured, but the government has denied that claim.
