One of the biggest crop insurance changes for 2024 is for sugarbeet growers. The early harvest allowance is now an option that would need to be elected by March 15. “There are some changes with that, they changed the threshold to 15 percent instead of ten percent,” said Jennifer Otteson, owner, Countryside Insurance Agency. “To use that early harvest allowance, you would have had to harvest more than 15 percent of the acreage of that unit prior to October 1.” Countryside Insurance hosted its annual farmer meeting Tuesday in Reynolds, North Dakota.
