The farm bill is being stymied by the appropriations process. American Sugarbeet Growers Association Vice President of Government Affairs Zack Clark says the agriculture committee has the topline numbers for a farm bill and something needs to happen soon. “They’re hard at work making sure that the 2024 levels are set.” The appropriations process has two deadlines, March 1 and March 8. “Things are progressing, but we’re so far behind. It should be noted, that we’re now legislating in the fiscal year that we’re operating in so that’s a problem.”
