Rather than shipping cattle and corn out of the state, NDSU Extension Livestock Specialist Karl Hoppe says there is potential to grow the cattle feeding business in the state. “We have the feed, we have the cattle, we have the resources and we have the opportunity.” Hoppe was a presenter at the NDSU Feedlot School in Carrington. “We have almost a million cattle in North Dakota and we can feed that many cattle even beyond backgrounding to finishing if we develop what we have.”
