Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and White House Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall will be in Mexico City Wednesday to discuss the border issue with Mexican’s president and senior government officials. The resumption of rail movement was praised by farm groups. “We are very appreciate that CBP was responsive to our calls to have the border crossings reopened, but we hope this experience serves as a cautionary tale moving forward,” said Harold Wolle, president, National Corn Growers Association. “Rail is a key mode of transportation for our exports into Mexico so closing rail crossings can have devastating ramifications for farmers and the economy.”
