Combest Sell and Associates Managing Partner Tom Sell says the GAO recommendations for a cut in federal crop insurance subsidies would undermine its delivery system. “There are years where the federal government actually makes money on federal crop insurance,” said Sell. “The analysis in this study are not well done, it’s kind of a hack job.” There are areas where federal crop insurance can be improved, but Sell says the crop insurance program serves farmers extremely well across the country.
