The funds are 700 million bushels short on corn and 550 million bushels short on wheat. U.S. Commodities broker Don Roose advises growers to watch the fund activity. “When we opened up trade to the large speculators, 1,200 contracts was maximum, then we went to 3,000, 6,000, 12,000 and then it went unlimited,” said Roose. “You really need to know from a producers standpoint when the big funds get in and out of the market because it explodes both ways very quickly.”
