The U.S. Department of Justice filed an amended antitrust lawsuit against Agri Stats Inc. in September for organizing and managing anticompetitive information exchanges among broiler chicken, pork, and turkey processors. The attorneys general of four states including Minnesota and California filed the amended complaint in the District of Minnesota. The complaint alleges Agri Stat’s reports are used by meat processors to engage in a coordinated effort to increase prices and reduce output, violating federal antitrust law. Agri Stats strongly denies the allegations which were rejected earlier this year in U.S. District Court.
