The inventors of the Bobcat skid steer loader will be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame this week. Louis and Cyril Keller built the first self-propelled loader in the 1950s at Rothsay, Minnesota. Melroe Manufacturing won exclusive rights to manufacturing in 1958 and hired the Keller brothers. Louis Keller died in 2010 and Cyril Keller passed away three years ago. Over a million Bobcats have been sold worldwide.
