U.S. lawmakers are heading towards a precarious vote for the next House speaker position. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says it’s unclear if Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has enough votes to make it into the speaker position. “We’re walking into the third week of this standoff between House leadership. It appears that he too has less votes than he needs to gain a majority.” Lane says there may be another round of conference if Jordan is unable capture the needed support. “If that vote is unsuccessful there will be another round of folks throwing their names in the hat, and it might be kind of an open season as to where those names come from.”
