Bagley Livestock owner Billy Bushelle says there aren’t many grass cattle left to sell in his area. “There’s still a few yearlings out there, but runs consist mostly of new-crop calves.” Bushelle says there’s a decent range in prices for new crop calves. “A lot of the steer calves are bringing somewhere in the $1,500-$1,600 range. The 400-pound calves have gone all the way up to the $350-$360 per hundredweight, so prices are refreshingly good.”
