According to Karlstad, Minnesota farmer Justin Dagen, harvest has been stop-and-go with frequent rains. Rain totals from May through August was below normal, but crops have done well. “Our farm received approximately 55 percent of normal precipitation, but it came at a great time.” Potato harvest has been underway for about a month and conditions are great. Dagen is grateful for how the potato crop is turning out nationally. “We’ve had a couple of years of shortages and this year I think it’s going to be a good quality and quantity crop so consumers will have a great choice and get a good value.”
