NDSU Extension Small Grain & Corn Agronomist Claire Keene says the corn crop is all over the board, depending on where the rain cloud landed. “High variability is the name of the game. There are really good and really poor corn fields out there.” Keene estimates that there’s been a lot of loss of top-yield potential. Keene doesn’t expect the top-end of corn yield to push past 200 bushels an acre. “Fair-to-good fields I’m estimating to be around 120-170 bushels per acre. I estimated 80-120 bushels on the poor to very poor fields.”
