South of Sabin, Minnesota, early maturity soybeans are starting to turn. The longer maturities are still green and filling out the top pods. “I would imagine toward the end of September we’ll be doing some combining,” said Tanner Thompson of Prairie’s Edge Agri-Service. Soybeans faced an overabundance of insects. “You name it, we had it,” said Thompson. “Cover worms, spider mites and, a first for myself, we found bean leaf beetles. It’s really heartbreaking when you see a pod laying on the ground that they’ve clipped.” Watch the interview.
