CoBank released a study that considers how beef on dairy genetics is affecting the supply chain and the beef market. CoBank Lead Animal Protein Analyst Brian Earnest said beef/dairy crosses are helping to fill gaps left by the shrinking U.S. beef herd. “We wanted to explore what it means to utilize more common beef genetics in the dairy industry and the effects on the beef supply chain from the cattle feeders to the packing community.” Earnest is seeing more beef/dairy genetics adopted in recent years.
